Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will Medicare cover my purchase?

Medicare usually only covers the most basic items, which may not suit you or your loved ones very well. They also require you to try using the lower cost items first such as an aluminum walker with tennis balls before they will cover the more expensive items such as a wheelchair. There main goal is to get you to the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. If you can do these things without equipment, you won’t be covered. They do not care about your outdoor freedom. We also do not bill to medicare.

  • How do I select the right equipment for me?

To ensure comfort and safety, mobility equipment must first possess adequate capacity for a persons’ height and weight. The second consideration is the environment in which the equipment will be operated. Rough or outdoor terrain may require more power or larger tires, while primarily indoor use may call for smaller tires and a better turning radius. Our certified technicians will need to evaluate your home (at no charge) to ensure proper measurements and educate you on other needs such as ramps, vehicle lifts, stair lifts, etc…

  • What's the difference between a power wheelchair and a scooter?

A power wheelchair is an excellent choice for indoor use. It fits almost anywhere and turns on a dime. It is also easier to use for weak users. Scooters require at least five pounds of force to move the tiller, sometimes even more. The scooter has a handlebar design; and while it is slightly larger than a power chair, it is perfect for use outside the home. Our staff will help determine if a power or scooter is best for you.

  • How much do stairlifts cost?

They start at about $3,300. You would need to call us for a free in-home evaluation so we can take measurements and check for obstacles. Stairlifts are an inexpensive alternative to moving out of your home.

  • How do I charge the battery?

Each chair has a cord for recharging, stairlifts always stay plugged in, and vehicle lifts run off the vehicle’s battery. Simply plug your chair into a regular 3-prong electrical socket at night, and it will be ready to go in the morning. It is recommended that the power chair be turned off before charging.
